China Agricultural University University, referred to as "China Agricultural University" (CAU), is located in Beijing. The university is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and jointly built by the former Ministry of water resources of the people's Republic of China, the former Ministry of agriculture of the people's Republic of China and Beijing. It ranks among the "double first class" construction universities, "985 Project" and "211 Project", and is selected into the "2011 plan" and "111 plan" ”, excellent engineer education and training plan, excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan, national construction of high-level university public postgraduate project, Chinese government scholarship to receive foreign students in China, National College Students' cultural quality education base, as a member of the "10 + 10" cooperative research alliance of University of California System.China Agricultural University was founded in 1905 as the Agricultural University of Beijing University. In September 1949, the Agricultural College of Peking University, the Agricultural College of Tsinghua University and the Agricultural College of North China University merged to form Beijing Agricultural University. In October 1952, the Department of agricultural machinery of Beijing Agricultural University merged with North China Agricultural Machinery College and the mechanical farming school of the central Ministry of agriculture to establish Beijing Institute of mechanized agriculture. In November of the same year, Pingyuan agricultural college was merged into Beijing Institute of mechanized agriculture. In July 1953, it was renamed Beijing Institute of agricultural machinery, and in October 1985, it was renamed Beijing University of agricultural engineering. In September 1995, Beijing Agricultural University and Beijing Agricultural Engineering University merged to form China Agricultural University.As of December 2019, the University covers an area of 1.25 million square meters, with a building area of 1.23 million square meters. It has 19 colleges and 66 undergraduate majors, 12182 full-time undergraduates and 8930 full-time postgraduates, 1860 full-time teachers, 21 first-class doctoral degree authorization points and 32 first-class master's degree authorization points, and has a collection of nearly 2 million books.
