China Conservatory of music Music) is located in Beijing. It is jointly built by the Ministry of culture and tourism of the people's Republic of China and Beijing Municipal People's government. It is a higher music institution based on traditional Chinese culture, with unique characteristics of Chinese music education and research. It cultivates high-level professionals engaged in Chinese music theory research, creation, performance and education. It is one of the first batch of "world-class discipline construction universities" in China, and is awarded by the Chinese government Colleges and universities receiving international students in China.The school was founded in 1964 on the proposal of Premier Zhou Enlai; in 1973, the China Conservatory of music and the Central Conservatory of music merged to form the Conservatory of music of the central May 7th University of Arts; in May 1980, the Chinese Conservatory of music resumed its establishment.As of July 2014, the school covers a total area of 60.27 mu, with 1329 ordinary undergraduates, 524 postgraduates (doctors and Masters) and 387 teaching staff. According to the official website of the University in March 2017, the University opened 11 teaching units; in 2017, the University opened 3 enrollment majors and 15 professional directions; it has 1 post doctoral mobile station, 1 first-class discipline doctoral program, 1 first-class discipline master program and 1 professional master degree program. As of December 2018, China Conservatory of music is a social art level examination institution.
