Beijing Film Academy is an art college supported by the Beijing Municipal People's government, the State Administration of press, publication, radio, film and television and the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. It is the first art college to host the national "863" project. It is the recipient College of Chinese Government Scholarship for international students. It is also the governing College of the International Federation of film and television universities (cilect) and the executive chairman of the Asia Pacific Film annual meeting Excellent school of undergraduate teaching level evaluation of Ministry of education, advanced unit of teaching management for international students in Beijing, excellent organization unit of 2018 China science fiction conference, listed unit of national animation education research base, Beijing Film and television art research base and China children's film research center, center of academic exchange of Asian Film, known as "cradle of Chinese film talents".The predecessor of Beijing Film Academy is the Institute of performing arts of the central film administration founded in 1950. In 1951, it was renamed the film school of the film Bureau of the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China; in 1953, it was renamed Beijing Film School; in 1956, it was transformed into Beijing Film Academy.According to the information on the school's official website in February 2019, Beijing Film Academy occupies 105 mu of the main campus; Huairou Campus (under construction) covers an area of 667 mu, with a total investment of about 2.8 billion yuan. The first phase of the project is expected to be put into use in 2019. There are more than 3000 full-time students with academic qualifications, and about 3000 adult education students, such as junior college students, international students, on-the-job postgraduates, postgraduate courses, further education and training students. There are 527 teaching staff, including 287 full-time teachers. It has 19 teaching units, covering every field of film creation, covering all aspects of film creation. It is the only college that can independently create feature films. It has 19 undergraduate specialties, including 3 first-class doctoral degree authorization points, 3 first-class master degree authorization points and 2 master degree authorization categories.
