Tianjin Institute of physical education is a public undergraduate college, which is mainly based on education, coordinated development of management, literature, art and science, and supervised by Tianjin Education Committee.Founded in August 1958, the University began to recruit postgraduates in 1979. In 1986, the University was granted the right to confer master's degree. In 2003, the University was officially approved by the Ministry of education as the "working unit to carry out joint training of doctoral degree graduates". In July 2013, the University became the "doctoral degree conferring unit".As of January 2018, the school covers an area of 1115.7 mu, with a total construction area of about 460000 square meters. There are 485 teaching staff in the school, including 56 with senior titles and 136 with deputy senior titles; 86 with doctoral degrees and 293 with master's degrees. The total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment is more than 120 million yuan. The new building area of the school library is nearly 15000 square meters. At present, there are 377000 paper documents, 851 paper periodicals and more than 3 million e-books. At present, there are 6075 full-time students, including 375 vocational students, 5247 undergraduates, 436 postgraduates and 17 doctoral students.
