Shanxi Institute of technology is located in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province. It is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education. It is a training university of China's "hundred school project" by the Ministry of education and a pilot University of Shanxi Province for the transformation and development of universities.The school was founded in 1984, initially named Yangquan Coal College of Shanxi University of mining and technology; Yangquan Coal college was established in 1986; Yangquan College of Taiyuan University of technology was established in 2001; Shanxi Institute of engineering and technology was established on the basis of Yangquan College of Taiyuan University of technology in 2014, upgraded to undergraduate university.As of March 2020, the school covers an area of 737000 square meters; the building area of the school is 252400 square meters; the total value of teaching equipment is 96.55 million yuan; the library has 799000 paper books and 320000 e-books; there are 13 departments and 30 undergraduate majors; there are 597 teaching staff and 12178 full-time students, including 11392 undergraduates and 786 junior college students.
