Shanghai Jian Qiao University The University, referred to as "Jianqiao" for short, is located in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, on the coast of the East China Sea and by the beautiful Dishui Lake. It is a public welfare full-time private college established with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People's government and put on record by the Ministry of Education of the people's Republic of China It is a member unit of the University Alliance and the non-profit private university alliance of the Ministry of education. Shanghai's private colleges and universities are supported by the Ministry of Social Sciences and the Ministry of social sciences.Founded by Mr. Zhou Xingzeng and a group of Wenzhou entrepreneurs who are enthusiastic about education and public welfare, the school was officially established in April 2000 and approved as Shanghai Jianqiao vocational and technical college in April 2001. In September 2005, it became a full-time ordinary university with undergraduate education as the main body, and changed its name to "Shanghai Jianqiao University". In September 2006, the first batch of undergraduates registered for admission; in July 2010, the University was added as a bachelor's degree awarding unit. In February 2015, the school was awarded the "national civilized unit". In the autumn of 2015, the school moved from Kangqiao in Pudong to Lingang in Pudong. In May 2017, the University was selected as the "new master's degree awarding unit in Shanghai".As of March 2019, the school has 985 teaching staff and 17808 full-time students, including 15396 undergraduates, 2412 junior college students and more than 100 foreign students. The total investment of the school has exceeded 2.8 billion yuan. The campus covers an area of 800 mu, with a total planning building area of 480000 square meters. The completed building area is nearly 380000 square meters, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 166790200 yuan RMB, with a collection of more than 1.52 million paper books and 17000 teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment. There are 10 secondary colleges, 30 undergraduate majors and 12 junior majors.
