Southeast University University, referred to as "Dongda", is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and directly under the central government. In 1921, the National Southeast University was established on the basis of Nanjing Normal University, with engineering under it. Later, engineering went through such historical periods as Engineering College of national fourth Sun Yat sen University, Engineering College of National Central University and Engineering College of National Nanjing University. In 1952, the national departments were adjusted, with the former Engineering College of Nanjing University as the main body, and merged into Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University Nanjing Institute of technology was established at the original site of Central University; in May 1988, the University was renamed Southeast University; in April 2000, the former Southeast University, Nanjing Railway Medical College and Nanjing Transportation College were merged, and Nanjing Geological College was merged to form a new Southeast University.As of March 2019, the school covers an area of 5888 mu, with campuses such as Sipailou, Jiulong lake and dingjiaqiao, 33 departments, 30664 full-time students and 2899 full-time teachers.
