Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University, located in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is a Sino foreign cooperative university approved by the Ministry of education of China and co founded by Xi'an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool in the UK. It has the right to confer bachelor's degree from the people's Republic of China and the degree from the University of Liverpool in the UK. It is a member of the national "863 Plan" scientific research projects. In 2017, the University became a provincial master project construction unit in Jiangsu Province.In September 2004, Xi'an Jiaotong University signed an agreement with Liverpool University to establish Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool (International) University; in 2006, the University was officially established. In 2010, it was granted the postgraduate degree of the University of Liverpool. In 2012, the Ministry of Education approved the university to implement the master's and doctor's degree education of the University of Liverpool.According to the official website of the University in September 2016, the university is divided into two campuses, the north and the south, with a total area of 610 mu, a building area of 407000 square meters, and more than 500000 books; there are more than 10000 undergraduate and graduate students, and more than 450 teachers from more than 50 countries and regions. As of January 2020, the university has set up 43 undergraduate majors, 40 master's majors and 18 doctoral majors.
