The University of Nottingham, located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, is a Sino foreign cooperative university with independent legal personality and independent campus established by the University of Nottingham and Zhejiang Wanli college with the approval of the Ministry of education of China. It is a member of the Sino foreign cooperative University Alliance.The school was founded in 2004. At the inauguration ceremony, general secretary Xi Jinping sent a message: "the founding and establishment of The University of Nottingham Ningbo created a precedent for the combination of higher education and high-quality higher education resources in China, and created a new model for China's education to go global."On May 20, 2005, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the University of Nottingham in Ningbo; in December 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of education to carry out doctoral education.
