Liaocheng University is called "Liaocheng University" for short. Located in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, it is a key comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province. It has been selected into the "excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan" of the Ministry of education, the first batch of famous universities with application-oriented talents training characteristics in Shandong Province, the provincial doctoral project construction unit of Shandong Province, the member unit of the Arctic University Alliance, the master's and bachelor's degree awarding unit, and the university with master's degree exemption qualification.The history of running the school can be traced back to the normal school in Shandong University in 1902. In August 1970, the Department of Shandong Normal University and eight departments including Chinese, history, foreign language, mathematics, biology, sports and art moved to Liaocheng to run the school. In April 1974, the Department of Shandong Normal University and most of its departments moved back to Jinan and planned to build Liaocheng branch of Shandong Normal University. In November, the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee officially approved the establishment of Liaocheng branch of Shandong Normal University. In July 1981, with the approval of the State Council, Liaocheng branch of Shandong Normal University was transformed into Liaocheng Normal University. In February 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Liaocheng Normal University was renamed Liaocheng University.As of April 2019, the school covers an area of 3000 mu, the school building area is 775000 square meters, the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 490 million yuan, and the paper collection is 2.81 million. The university has 25 colleges, 9 research institutes, 21 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 8 master's professional degree authorization points and 98 undergraduate majors. The disciplines and specialties cover 12 disciplines, with more than 30000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. Chemistry and engineering disciplines rank among the top 1% in the world.
