Ludong University, located in Yantai City, Shandong Province, is a provincial comprehensive university with arts, science and engineering as the main body and multi-disciplinary coordinated development. In 2012, it became one of the first batch of "famous schools with application-oriented talents training characteristics in Shandong Province" and a doctoral talent training project unit serving the special needs of the country. In 2014, it was approved as a postdoctoral research mobile station of pedagogy and became one of the two universities with bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctor's degree and postdoctoral teacher education and training system in the province. Wang Meng, former Minister of culture and famous writer, commented on Ludong University's "outstanding people and spirit". In 2017, the University became a provincial doctoral project construction unit in Shandong Province.Founded in 1930, the school has gone through such historical stages as the second rural normal school of Shandong Province, Jiaodong public school, Laiyang normal school, Laiyang normal college, Yantai normal college, Yantai teachers' training school and Yantai normal college. In 2001, Shandong Jiaotong school (Yantai), which was directly under the Department of communications of Shandong Province (founded in 1978), was incorporated. In 2006, the University changed its name to Ludong University. In 2007, the University's undergraduate teaching level was rated as "excellent" by the Ministry of education. In 2014, the College of teacher education was officially established in Penglai campus.As of May 2018, the campus covers an area of 3450 mu, with a building area of 1.03 million square meters; the total value of fixed assets is 2.336 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 360 million yuan; the library has a collection of 2.503 million books and 1.02 million kinds of e-books; it has 22 colleges, 85 undergraduate majors, 1 post doctoral research mobile station, 1 doctoral program, 17 first-class discipline master programs, and 5 second-class disciplines There are 93 master's programs in secondary disciplines, 11 master's programs in professional degrees, including 28 enrollment majors (fields).
