Shandong University of Arts, or Shanyi for short, was founded in August 1958. It is a comprehensive art university of Shandong Province, located in Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is one of the 31 independent art colleges set up by the Ministry of education to recruit and train all kinds of art talents nationwide.The school was formerly known as Shandong art college. In December 1978, with the approval of the State Council, the school was transformed into Shandong art college, offering undergraduate majors. On January 13, 2016, the Shandong provincial government and the Ministry of culture officially signed a co construction agreement, and Shandong art college was upgraded to a University jointly built by the province and the Ministry. In 2017, the University became a provincial doctoral project construction unit in Shandong Province.As of September 2016, the school has two campuses in Jinan Wendong and Changqing, covering an area of 1313 mu, including 1200 mu in Changqing. The total building area of the school is 351126 square meters, including 170090 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, 687357 volumes of paper literature and 76.2333 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment. There are 50 undergraduate majors with 673 full-time teachers, including 392 teachers with doctor's and master's degrees and 241 teachers with advanced professional and technical qualifications.
