Henan Polytechnic University is a key university with characteristics of Henan Province, which is jointly built by the central and local governments and mainly based on local management. It is also a University jointly built by the people's Government of Henan Province and the former State Administration of work safety. It has been selected into the national "basic capacity construction project of universities in central and western regions", key universities of Henan Province, "education and training plan for outstanding engineers" and "National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training" "New engineering research and practice project".The school's predecessor is Jiaozuo road and mining school, which was founded by the British Fuzhong company in 1909. It has gone through such historical periods as Henan Fuzhong mining school, Fuzhong mining school, Fuzhong Mining University, private Jiaozuo Institute of technology, Northwest Institute of technology, national Jiaozuo Institute of technology and Jiaozuo Institute of mining. In 1995, the name of Jiaozuo Institute of technology was restored, and in 2004, it was renamed as Henan University of technology.As of May 2018, the university has three campuses, namely the south campus, the north campus and the west campus, covering an area of more than 4100 mu, a construction area of more than 1.4 million square meters, with a total value of nearly 525 million yuan in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment; it has set up 22 teaching colleges and reserve officers college, International Education College, continuing education college and safety technology training college, with 74 undergraduate majors, covering engineering, science, management, safety and technology There are nine universities of economics, law, arts, education, arts and medicine, five postdoctoral research centers, six first-class doctoral programs, 20 first-class master programs and eight master degree authorization categories.
