Kaifeng University is a full-time university sponsored by the people's Government of Kaifeng City, approved by the people's Government of Henan Province and put on record by the Ministry of education.Founded in 1980, the school was originally called "Henan Normal University (now Henan University) branch"; in 1981, it was renamed Kaifeng Day University; in 1984, it was renamed Kaifeng University. In 2004, it was selected as the national pilot University for the cultivation of skilled talents in short supply. In 2017, the college was selected into the construction project of national quality higher vocational colleges in Henan Province.According to the school's official website in May 2019, the school covers an area of more than 1500 mu, with a total construction area of about 414500 square meters, teaching and research administrative rooms of about 237700 square meters, teaching and research equipment worth 136966100 yuan, with 12 colleges, 2 departments, 5 public teaching and research departments, 59 permanent majors, 1070 teachers and staff inside and outside the school, and 14367 full-time students.
