Shangqiu Polytechnic is a public full-time higher vocational college approved by the people's Government of Henan Province and put on record by the Ministry of education.In 1977, Shangqiu agricultural school was founded; in 1994, Shangqiu Vocational secondary school was renamed Shangqiu finance and economics school; in 2001, Shangqiu radio and Television University, Shangqiu finance and economics school and Shangqiu agriculture school were merged and upgraded to Shangqiu Vocational and technical college; in 2003, Shangqiu finance and taxation school, Shangqiu Industrial school, Shangqiu business school, Shangqiu sports school and Shangqiu culture and art school were merged Shangqiu Vocational and technical college; in October 2007, the college was approved by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance as the "National Model Higher Vocational College" project construction unit. In 2017, the college was selected into the construction project of national quality higher vocational colleges in Henan Province.In January 2019, Professor Zhang Shenju of our college as the main completion person and our college as the second completion unit won the second prize of 2018 National Science and Technology Progress Award for the scientific research achievement breeding and application of high yield and quality new wheat variety Zhengmai 7698 (No.: j-201-2-05).
