It is an industry college under the former Ministry of textile industry of China. In 1998, it was transferred to Hubei Province for management after the adjustment of China's national education management system. In 1999, it was renamed Wuhan Institute of Science and technology. In 2002, it was merged into Hubei foreign trade school. In 2010, it was renamed Wuhan Textile University. In 2011, it was renamed Hubei College of Finance and economics Incorporated into Wuhan Textile University.As of June 2019, Wuhan Textile University, covering an area of more than 2000 mu, has four campuses, 21 teaching departments, 64 undergraduate majors, 14 master's degree authorized first-class disciplines, 9 master's degree authorized categories, nearly 2000 teaching staff and more than 20000 full-time students at all levels.
