Wuhan University of technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. Wuhan University of technology originated from the Industrial School of the Ministry of military industry of the Northeast military region of the people's Liberation Army in 1948. After inheritance and development, it was renamed Wuhan University of technology in 1985 and transferred from the former State Bureau of building materials industry to the director of the Ministry of education in 1998. Wuhan Jiaotong University of science and technology originated from the National Maritime Vocational School in 1946. After inheritance and development, it changed its name to Wuhan Jiaotong University of science and technology in 1993 and was subordinate to the former Ministry of communications. Wuhan University of automobile technology originated from Wuhan Institute of technology in 1958. After inheritance and development, it was renamed Wuhan University of automobile technology in 1995, and was subordinate to the former China Automobile Industry Corporation.As of November 2019, the university has three campuses, covering an area of nearly 4000 mu; there are more than 36000 undergraduate students, more than 18000 doctoral and master students, and more than 1700 international students; there are 5477 faculty members, including 3243 full-time teachers; there are 25 Colleges (departments) and 91 undergraduate majors; there are 17 post doctoral research mobile stations, 19 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 46 first-class discipline master programs, and 17 master programs There are 22 types of professional degree authorization and 39 fields of master's degree authorization.
