Guangxi University of science and technology, located in Liuzhou City, is an authorized unit for bachelor's and master's degrees approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. It is a pilot University of "excellent doctor education and training plan", a University of "excellent engineer education and training plan 2.0", and a University of "new engineering research and practice project". It is directly under the management of the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In 2013, with the approval of the academic degree committee of the autonomous region, it was officially determined as the new doctoral degree awarding unit for the project construction from 2013 to 2018. It is a multi-disciplinary institution of higher learning with nine disciplines, including engineering, management, science, economics, arts, law, art, education and medicine.Approved by the Ministry of education on April 18, 2013, the school was established by merging the former Guangxi Institute of technology and the former Liuzhou Medical College. The former Guangxi Institute of technology was founded in 1958, merged with Guangxi Institute of light industry, Guangxi Institute of mechanical industry and Guangxi Institute of petrochemical industry in 1982, and moved from Nanning to Liuzhou in 1985. The former Liuzhou Medical College was founded in 1951 and upgraded to "Liuzhou Medical College" in 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of education.According to the official website data in December 2019, the school has three campuses, east ring, Liushi and Liudong, covering an area of nearly 4000 mu. There are 16 secondary colleges, 1 academic department, 19 research institutes (centers), 2 affiliated hospitals and 81 specialties. There are more than 1800 teaching staff and 29000 full-time students.
