Southwest University of Political Science& Law is located in Chongqing. It is a University jointly built by the Ministry of education and Chongqing Municipal People's government. It is the first university of politics and law established in New China. After the reform and opening up, it is the first batch of national key universities, the first batch of national excellent legal talents education and training plan base, the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education base, the first batch of Chinese government scholarship institutions to receive foreign students in China They are the basic ability construction project of universities in central and Western China, the public postgraduate project of national construction high-level universities, the national characteristic key discipline project, the new engineering research and practice project, the national innovation and entrepreneurship training program for college students, and the Pilot Universities of independent enrollment. It is known as the "Southwest Associated University" of law education in New China.Its predecessor was southwest people's revolutionary university founded in 1950 with Marshal Liu Bocheng as its president. In 1953, based on the Department of political science and law of southwest people's revolutionary University, the Law School of Chongqing University, the school of political science and law of Sichuan University, the Department of law of Chongqing University of Finance and economics, the Department of law of Guizhou University, and the Department of law of Yunnan University were merged, and the Southwest University of political science and law was officially established. In 1958, Chongqing Branch of the central public security college was incorporated into the school. In 1993, it became an authorized unit for doctorate; in 1995, it was renamed Southwest University of political science and law; in 2003, it became one of the first batch of authorized units for doctorate in law.As of August 2018, the university has three campuses, Yubei, Shapingba and baoshenghu, covering a total area of more than 3000 mu; there are more than 23000 students and more than 2000 staff; there are 13 colleges and 23 undergraduate majors; there are 2 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 16 second-class discipline doctoral programs, 8 first-class discipline master programs, 38 second-class discipline master programs and 8 professional degree master programs.
