Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (hereinafter referred to as "Chuanmei"), located in Chongqing, is a provincial undergraduate university with the right to confer master's degree. It is one of the 31 independent art colleges in China, one of the eight art colleges in China, and a national model university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.The college was founded in 1940 as Sichuan Provincial Academy of art; it was renamed Chengdu Academy of art at the end of 1950, merged with southwest people's Academy of art in 1953 and became southwest Academy of fine arts; it was renamed Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1959.According to the official website of the University in July 2019, the campus of the university is divided into Huangjueping campus and Huxi campus, covering an area of 1200 mu, with 250000 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms and 126 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment; it has 14000 square meters of new and old campus library, 38000 square meters of new and old campus experimental teaching center, 7000 square meters of old campus art museum and 23000 square meters of new campus art museum The library has a collection of 410000 books, 9 departments, 22 undergraduate majors, 1 postdoctoral research station, 4 first-class master's degree authorization points, 2 master's degree authorization points, 628 full-time teachers and 7550 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. On September 20, 2019, it won the title of national greening model unit.
