Sichuan Agricultural University, referred to as "Sichuan Agricultural University", is jointly built by the Ministry of education, Sichuan Provincial People's government and Chengdu Municipal People's government. It is a national key construction University of "211 Project" with biotechnology as its feature, agricultural science and technology as its advantage, and coordinated development of agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, medicine, culture, education, law and art.Sichuan Agricultural University originated from Sichuan Tongsheng agricultural school founded in 1906. It was merged into Sichuan university twice in 1927 and 1935. In 1956, it moved from the Agricultural College of Sichuan University to Ya'an, the former capital of Xikang Province, and established Sichuan Agricultural College. In 1985, it was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University.By January 2020, the school has three campuses, Ya'an, Chengdu and Dujiangyan, covering a total area of 4500 mu, with a collection of 11.6589 million volumes of literature resources. There are more than 3700 faculty members, including 326 professors and 578 associate professors, 27 colleges and 15 research institutes (centers). There are 7 mobile stations for postdoctoral research, 10 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, 17 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, and 91 undergraduate majors; there are more than 44000 full-time students, including more than 38000 undergraduates and nearly 6000 postgraduates. Agricultural science, botany and zoology, biology and biochemistry of the university entered the top 1% of ESI International disciplines.
