Xingyi Normal University for nationalities is located in Xingyi City, Guizhou Province, which is known as the "thoroughfare" of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi. It is a full-time comprehensive undergraduate college jointly built by provinces and prefectures.The predecessor of Xingyi Normal University for nationalities was the Bishan academy, which was rebuilt in 1813. In 1904, the Bishan Academy was transformed into Xingyi Primary School of higher learning, and the normal school was established. In 1975, the Guizhou provincial Party committee approved the establishment of "507" in Xingyi In 1978, the State Council approved the establishment of Xingyi normal college. In 2009, the Ministry of Education approved the promotion to Xingyi normal college for nationalities. In December 2016, the college was approved as the construction unit of master's degree award in the 13th five year plan.As of April 2020, the school covers an area of 1211 mu, with a total building area of 232700 square meters, including 107400 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, 78900 square meters of student dormitories, 27200 square meters of library, 650000 books and 761000 kinds of e-books, and 62.8401 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment. At present, there are 703 in-service teaching staff, including 66 with senior professional titles, 91 with doctor's degree (including reading), 274 with deputy senior professional titles. At present, there are 11142 full-time students. There are 14 secondary colleges, 41 undergraduate majors, 7 junior majors and professional directions, and 1 bilingual preparatory class for ethnic minorities.
