Yunnan Agricultural University is located in Kunming, the spring city. It is one of the first batch of Pilot Universities in the reform of national excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan and excellent engineer education and training plan. It is the second batch of demonstration universities in deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China. It is a key university of Yunnan Province, a construction unit of national "2011 plan", and a university with postgraduate promotion and exemption qualification.The school was founded in 1938, formerly known as the Agricultural College of national Yunnan University, which was built in Chenggong County, Kunming City; Kunming agricultural and Forestry College was built independently in 1958, which was moved to Heilongtan, the northern suburb of Kunming; in 1962, South Yunnan University and West Yunnan University were merged into Kunming agricultural and Forestry College; in 1969, they were moved to Binchuan County, Dali Prefecture; in 1970, they were moved to Xundian County, Qujing Prefecture; in 1971, they were merged with Yunnan Agricultural and labor university to establish Yunan University South agricultural university, moved back to Heilongtan, northern suburb of Kunming in 1980, became a master's degree authorized unit in 1983, became a doctor's degree authorized unit in 2003, and was assessed as excellent undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of education in 2008.According to the official website of the University in April 2020, the university has its headquarters, Wuhua campus, Pu'er campus and Xishuangbanna campus, covering an area of 3803 mu, 697000 square meters of school buildings, with a total value of 336.23 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment; 25684 full-time students, 7504 adult education students, and nearly 200 foreign students of all kinds; 1828 in-service teaching staff, including more than 700 senior professional titles; and There are 22 colleges, 79 undergraduate majors, 25 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 3 mobile post doctoral research stations, 5 first-class discipline doctoral programs, 15 second-class discipline doctoral programs, 12 first-class discipline master programs, 59 second-class discipline master programs, and 7 professional degree master programs.
