Zhaotong university is a provincial application-oriented general undergraduate school, located in Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, the junction of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces. The history of the school can be traced back to the normal school founded by the Qing government in 1906. After the provincial second normal school and Zhaotong normal school, Zhaotong normal college was established in 1978. In March 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University was upgraded to an undergraduate university.As of August 2016, the school covers an area of 758.07 mu, with a total construction area of 247100 square meters, teaching and administrative room area of 192500 square meters; the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 47.7694 million yuan, 5530 sets (pieces); the total collection of books is 757000, including 1176 kinds of periodicals, 126 kinds of newspapers, more than 10000 CD ROMs and 184000 e-books. There are 14 teaching colleges, 1 innovation and entrepreneurship Park for college students, 21 undergraduate majors and 39 junior majors.
