Pu'er university is located in the important town of Pu'er in Southwest Yunnan. It is an ordinary undergraduate university in Yunnan Province. It is organized by the people's Government of Yunnan Province, and it implements the provincial management system of joint management and co construction. It is one of the first batch of Pilot Universities in the reform of the national excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan. It is supported by the Central University for Nationalities and Yunnan University for nationalities.The predecessor of Pu'er university is Simao Teachers College, which was established in 1977 and officially enrolled in October 1978. In April 1998, Simao branch of Yunnan Radio and TV University was incorporated into the school. In September of the same year, the school's management system was adjusted to "provincial and local co construction and co management, focusing on the province". On March 29, 2012, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Pu'er college on the basis of Simao teachers college.As of December 2017, the college campus covers an area of more than 2000 mu; the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 47.44 million yuan; there are 680000 paper books, 14 secondary colleges, including 72 various majors, 33 undergraduate majors and 39 junior majors; there are 473 teaching staff, 12420 full-time students, including 305 international students.
